Position Description The Shift Electrician plays a critical role in supporting steel mill operations by ensuring electrical systems and equipment are functioning optimally and safely. This position requires strong ownership, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Technicians will perform both preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to solutions that enhance productivity and reliability. Safety is the top priority in all tasks and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on steel mill electrical systems and equipment
Troubleshoot and repair issues with AC/DC motors, power transformers, and control systems
Operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and other mobile equipment as needed
Propose and implement improvements for operational efficiency
Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards
Collaborate with team members to support production and maintenance goals
Requirements
Strong understanding of fundamental electrical theory
4+ years of industrial electrical experience
OR Trade School degree plus relevant experience
Experience with:
AC and DC motors
Power transformers
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Formal electrical safety training and application
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Capable of safely operating forklifts, mobile cranes, and related equipment
